USDA sync

This never overwrites what you already edited. Photos, names, nutrition, tags, and cuisines on existing rows stay as they are.

Sync only adds foods that are not already in the catalog:

USDA rows whose FDC id is not in the database
skipped if a cook-facing name already exists (same unique-name rule as admin create)
curated extras (matooke, witlof, …) whose names are still missing

First run or a forced re-download can take several minutes (USDA CSV archives). Leave this page open; status updates below.
